It took Iain McMillan barely 10 minutes to capture what has become one of the most iconic shots of the 20th century. Only six photographs were taken by Iain on that sunny August day in 1969. Shot on transparency film using a medium format camera. 16 x 12 print on Fujichrome paper, signed on the print by Iain McMillan. Signed prints from this session are now extremely rare and highly desirable.

A full set of out-takes sold at Bloomsbury Auctions in 2014 for £180,000.

Robert Whitaker was a renowned British photographer, best known for his photographs of The Beatles. This famous portrait of George Harrison was taken by Robert at Chiswick Gardens in 1966 during the filming of The Beatles video Rain and Paperback Writer.

The Beatles | Perthshire, Scotland 1964 by Robert Whitaker

Robert Whitaker was a renowned British photographer, best known for his photography of The Beatles. This famous ‘umbrella’ portrait shot was taken on the banks of Loch Earn in Perthshire whilst they were staying at the Four Seasons Hotel in 1964.

This rare example of Robert Whitaker’s work is number 1 of 50 and has been signed and numbered by Robert in the border, and additionally signed by Robert in pencil on the verso. It’s extremely unlikely that the full edition was ever completed before his passing and it is quite possible that this may be the only signed and numbered example in this edition. Typically, Robert signed on the image itself or on the reverse of the print and rarely numbered his work.

Comes with a letter of provenance.

The photogravure process is an exceptionally difficult and skilful process which uses a copper plate etched in an acid bath to create an image. The copper plate is then coated in ink and run through a traditional hand press. This highly skilled six stage process creates a stunning artwork which has a stability that lasts for centuries. Photogravures are also revered for their beautiful tonal qualities.

Has authentic deckle edge.

Taken at the beginning of Beatlemania in 1963, a young fan lays unconscious on the stage; moments before she was clasping a note to her hero John Lennon which reads –“ John please sing You Really Got a Hold on Me”. A remarkable photograph in every sense with breathtaking detail which captures the very essence of Beatlemania.
