His powerful and provocative work has established him as one of the most important photographers of the 20th century and his work commands high prices at auction houses throughout the world. This photograph of Peter Gabriel was taken by Robert in his home studio in New York in December 1986 and was later used for the artwork on Peter Gabriel’s album Shaking the Tree, released in 1990.

This rare print has been authorised by the Robert Mapplethorpe Foundation and has been signed by Peter Gabriel in the border.
